A OTP EPROM does not have a quartz window, so cannot be erased. The one time programmable (OTP) 27C256 EPROM (type number AT27C256R-70PU) is still available brand new in large numbers from suppliers such as Farnell ( link) and other suppliers. Keep in mind that all the older types of EPROMs are obsolete. TL86II programmers can be bought from eBay as well as other places (I find Amazon is usually more expensive). Most 27Cxxx types use a 12.5V programming voltage. Or can anyone recommend a good source of 27C128s that are a reasonable price?Īlongside making a proper start on playing Land, this is going to be my Christmas projectĪ TL86II should be able to program (‘burn’) any 12.5V EPROM. I've seen in Brett's topic someone mention gc_supermarket: are they any good? I'm looking to buy the following, but could anyone confirm that they would work in the TL8611 PLus programmer? One thing I haven't seen is any specific recommendation for sources of the (E)EPROMs and after a recent experience I'm again wary of Chinese sellers on Amazon/eBay. Would this be sufficient for programming chips for the Beeb? I see the TL86II Plus USB programmer seems to be popular and Amazon has one for £38.90. I'm looking to take a less homebrew approach to burning EPROMs/EEPROMs and buying off-the-shelf. So, apologies in advance if it feels like it's recently been covered. I didn't want to divert away from Brett's discussion about the Beebug programmer build he's working on, but I have a question quite tightly related to that.
